On Thursday morning, President Trump and First Lady Melania left Mar-a-Lago to make a quick stop at a Coast Guard Station in Riviera Beach, FL.
Trump and Melania walked into the station and gave these Coast Guard members the surprise of a lifetime on this Thanksgiving holiday. He and Melania served sandwiches to the brave men, and Trump spoke to them about their bravery and great accomplishments. He praised the many ways that they have served Americans and kept the country safe.
“It is an honor to be here, I have to tell you. You know, the Coast Guard, always respected, but if you were looking at it as a brand, there’s no brand that went up more than the Coast Guard, with what happened in Texas.”
Trump has been honoring the Coast Guard frequently ever since the devastating hurricanes this past summer. The Coast Guard response was quick and effective. Their bravery saved a number of lives in Texas, which Trump reminded the men and women at the Florida station on Thursday.
“We went, we went together to Texas, and we saw what you were doing. And you just followed that storm, right next to that storm, and you just, you saved so many people.”
After the visit, Melania put out a tweet to the Coast Guard sharing her gratitude for their service. She was honored to have visited them this Thanksgiving.
“Thrilled to spend part of our Thanksgiving w the local Coast Guard station in Florida. Thank you to all members of the military who keep us safe!”
