Hillary Goes After Trump Over Border Separation Policy: It’s Unchristian And Goes Against Biblical Teachings

On Monday, Hillary Clinton spoke out against President Donald Trump’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy and attacked Attorney General Jeff Sesions for citing the Book of Romans in response to criticism for separating undocumented immigrant families at the border.

Business Insider reported that Clinton criticized Republican officials who have used religion to defend the zero-tolerance policy, saying, “Those who selectively use the Bible to justify this cruelty are ignoring a central tenet of Christianity.”

She then argued that Sessions’ interpretation of the Bible is not in line with her own:

“I went to a lot of years of Sunday school. I even taught it from time to time. I’ve studied the Bible, both the Old and the New Testament. And what is being done using the name of religion is contrary to everything I was ever taught. Jesus said suffer the little children unto me —

he did not say let the children suffer.”

“The test of any nation is how we treat the most vulnerable among us,” she added

Clinton even agreed with former first lady Laura Bush’s op-ed published by the Washington Post on the matter, saying that Bush was “absolutely right” to call the policy “immoral” and “cruel.”
